Alpha FC Abakaliki came from behind twice to defeat Excellence FC Enugu 3-2 in the opening match of the 2015 Ebonyi State League Competition.
The match took place at the Abakaliki a Township Stadium.
The gallant Alpha FC had gone behind in the early stages of the match when the referee awarded a penalty against the team following the handling of the ball by an Alpha player in the eighteen yard box.
But the Alpha boys would rally round to equalize almost immediately when their striker was brought down in the penalty area leading to the referee awarding a penalty.
The Alpha boys also went behind again in the first half but would equalize in the early stage of the second half. As the match was about to end, an excellence player handled the ball in his own penalty box.
The resultant penalty kick was converted by an Alpha FC midfielder leading to victory for the team. With this victory Alpha now leads the log with 3 maximum points from one match.
Their next match will be against Mgbo Ambassadors FC.
Only three teams registered to take part in this year's tournament.
